Thanks to everyone for making the Night of Giving a big success, and also thanks to the Smithfield businesses which donated 19 Christmas trees and 3 wreathes.

To celebrate the halfway point in the Main Street construction, Smithfield Chamber of Commerce businesses gave away four 4-wheelers at the Half Way Home celebration on August 4, 2007. We had around 300 people show up for the drawing at Central Park. It was a great turnout (we had estimated around 100).

Here are some more pictures of the event.
The next celebration will be at the completion of the road project sometime in October. We will continue to run the Smithfield Bucks promotion. Entry boxes are located in local Smithfield businesses/stores.
We wanted to thank Parsons for the $500.00 they donated towards the 4 wheelers. We also had Preston Watt’s, Lee’s and Subway donate gifts at the event.

Many Smithfield businesses are reporting a decline in sales with the recently begun construction on Main Street. To address the issues affecting local business and proposed plans of action to mitigate the situation, a meeting has been called.
Smithfield business owners may join members of the Smithfield Chamber of Commerce for a meeting with the Mayor, Staker-Parson, and UDOT on Tuesday 5-22-07 at 10 am at the Smithfield City Council room at 69 N. Main St. Plan on the meeting lasting about 2 hours.
(To get to parking, try going to Center Street, turn west toward the elementary school but cut north through the parking lot by the tennis courts.)
